Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings, and produces The Fishing News and Weekend Outlook.

A writer, a fisherman, an occasional boat builder, a recovering musician, a longtime chicken rancher, a beekeeper... Steve keeps busy in Woods Hole, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Researchers fear that the North Atlantic right whale may be headed toward extinction, with fewer than 100 breeding females left in a population numbering less than 450.  The Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, in response to this crisis, has launched a new program called the Right Whale Emergency Initiative.

A catastrophic sewer break on Nantucket has released more than one million gallons of sewage and stormwater into Nantucket Harbor. Roberto Santamaria, the island’s Health Director, said the winter weather is likely to blame for the rupture.
