Poetry Sunday: Emily A. Brightman

J. Donaldson

Emily reads her poem, " Where I'm From."

Emily A. Brightman is a native Cape Codder and lifelong lover of the written word. Though much of her writing is comprised of essays and fiction, she dabbles in poetry when inspiration strikes. A devotee of Beat-era poetry and literature, she touts the works of Allen Ginsberg, Anne Sexton, Joan Didion, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti as major inspirations. She holds a BA in Journalism and Film Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and flirts daily with the notion of graduate school. She currently lives in Northampton, Massachusetts.
