Tradition, Technology & Change in Today's Fishing Industry

Shannon Eldredge, a commercial weir fisherman from Chatham, has seen many changes in the industry since she fished with her father as a child. She joins Mindy Todd on The Point, along with Mike Pol, a scientist who collaborates with fisherman to design more effective fishing gear, in an effort to find out how improving gear design can help both fisherman and fish stocks. Also, Laura Orleans, Co-founder of The Working Waterfront Festival in New Bedford joins us to talk about this year’s theme - how fishing has changed in the past decade and what lies ahead.
