Weekend Outlook: Music and Movies

Chris Smith

Woods Hole is the star in this weekend's lineup, but you won't want to miss the two other musical events happening around the Cape. Here's your Weekend Outlook.

Columbus Day weekend is the traditional turn to the off-season on Cape Cod, and some series that have become winter staples are starting up this holiday weekend. For theWoods Hole Folk Music Society, though, this new season will be its final group of concerts.

Also in Woods Hole, the film festival based there will be starting two off-season series this weekend, showing favorites from this summer's festival and other independent movies. It's the Woods Hole Film Festival: Dinner and a Movie, and screenings at Cotuit Center for the Arts.

Three local theaters will be involved on Saturday for the start of the 13th season of “The Met: Live in HD” -- live simulcasts of opera performances happening in New York City.

The one-time-only event we’re featuring this week happens in Sandwich, which on Saturday will host a celebration of music all around its downtown area.  It's the Sandwich Porch Fest.
