First Time Fishing? No Problem. Start at a Dock or Jetty.

S Junker

It's estimated that 5 million people tried fishing for the first time last year, many of them seeking outdoor activities amidst the pandemic. The trend is likely to continue.

If you're interested in discovering fishing here on Cape Cod and the Islands, we've got some tips.

Kevin Blinkoff, of On The Water magazine, recently returned from the fishing trade show ICAST, and he talks to us about the industry's emphasis on bringing in new anglers. And he has practical advice for getting started right now.

Locally, perhaps the best places to experience the fun of catching a fish for the first time are on jetties and docks. We tell you what you need to get going, and what to expect.

And we round up the local fishing action. As bigger striped bass have moved into cooler waters, we've got info on where to look for them.

It's all in 4 minutes. Give a listen.
