A Veterans Day tradition is being renewed this week at Johnny Kelley park in South Dennis.
The Field of Honor has returned and will remain in place through Monday, Nov. 15. It's sponsored by AMVETS Post 333 and the Dennis Field of Honor Committee.
Each year, the display allows residents to dedicate flags in honor of a veteran. Proceeds support programs that benefit veterans.
Brian Hawksworth, the lead organizer of the event, said the United States has lost about 400,000 troops in foreign wars.
"Each of these flags, 400 of them, represents a thousand veterans. So if you can picture a thousand veterans standing behind each of those flags, you get a picture of the grandeur of how many veterans we've lost," Hawksworth said.
This is the ninth year the Field of Honor has come to Dennis.
