2014 Cape Cod Baseball League All Star Game

The West wins it, led by Chad Gassman of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. The right mix of pitching, the Falmouth Commodores' talent, and the LSU contingent combined to launch the West All-Stars to a 5-0 shutout victory over the East All-Stars at Doran Park. Read more at CapeCodBaseball.org

The game is under way, but just before the first pitch, our reporter Ginger Poulson chatted with East Division Coach John Schiffner of the Chatham Anglers.

Ginger Poulson is a Wisconsin native who is currently a Senior at Arizona State University where she is majoring in broadcast journalism. This is her second year covering the Bourne Braves.

Home of the Bourne Braves

The smell of hot dogs are in the air, and fans are collecting autographs from the Cape Cod Baseball Leagues All-Star Players. Matt McCarthy, one of our announcers for todays All-Star Game caught up with Darin Weeks Vice President of Operations for the Bourne Braves to talk about today's game, which is taking place on their home field.

Matt McCarthy spent the 2012 season with the Bourne Braves as a broadcasting intern. Last year, Matt served as the broadcast intern for the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Matt now works at 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston as a headlines anchor. He also serves as a news reporter and anchor for Cape Cod Broadcasting (99.9 WQRC, Ocean 104.7, Cape Country 104, and Classical 107.5 WFCC). A longtime resident of Carver, Matt claims to be one of the leading experts at avoiding Cape traffic.

A Conversation with the Coach of the West Division

Despite the rain, baseball fans are gathering at Doran Field in Bourne for the Cape Cod League All-Star Game. Dylan Vazzano, one of today's WCAI Announcers for the game talked to the West Division All-Star Coach, Chad Gassman of the Harbor Hawks.

Dylan Vazzano is about to enter his second year as Play-by-Play Broadcaster and Sports Information Coordinator at Tennessee Tech University, a Division I school in Cookeville, Tenn. that competes in the Ohio Valley Conference. His broadcasting duties include play-by-play for baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, soccer, and volleyball, while serving as the sideline reporter for football and color commentator for select television broadcasts of TTU basketball games. Dylan is also in his fifth consecutive season calling play-by-play for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League and will be calling the Cape's All-Star Game for the second straight summer. 

Nothing says summer like baseball. On Cape Cod we are lucky enough to have the Cape Cod Baseball League, a popular place for college players, many who make their way to the Major League.

This Sunday is the All-Star Game, your chance to hear how the best of the league are doing, and WCAI will be broadcasting LIVE from Doran Park in Bourne. Tune in at 6pm to hear Dylan Vazzano and Matt McCarthy bring you the call, Ginger Poulson will talking to folks at the game and Steve Junker in the Studio.
