Cape Cod Task Force to Hold Briefing for Schools on COVID-19 Data and Testing

Cape Cod Reopening Task Force

As schools finalize their reopening plans for the fall, the Cape Cod Reopening Task Force plans to offer a briefing for educators on COVID-19 testing and the latest virus data.

Administrators, teachers and school committee members will be invited.

State Senator Julian Cyr, the task force spokesman, said the idea developed from meetings that legislators held with superintendents and teachers’ unions.

“I think several themes emerged in those conversations,” he said. “Probably the biggest one, where we think we could help the most, relates to health data and information about testing.”

He said it became clear that not everyone was working with the same information.

“We realized there’s not [a] uniform understanding of what assets are available, what the data looks like on Cape Cod,” he said.

The briefing will be led by Barnstable County officials, with participation from Cape Cod Healthcare.

Topics will include how to access testing.

Cyr said the task force understands that this is a very anxious time as everyone gets ready for the reopening of school.
