Focusing on Good Food, & more: Best Bets for the Weekend

Caleb Nickerson House

Don't let your cultural intake be dry and flavorless! There's plenty going on this weekend to enjoy.

On Friday night the Provincetown Art Association and Museumhosts a potluck dinner to celebrate three art new exhibitions.

Food is the focus of an unusual cooking event happening Saturday at the Caleb Nickerson House in North Chatham, where Maureen Leavenworth demonstrates baking 18th and 19th century recipes in a beehive oven. It starts with the lighting of the oven at 9am, and finishes with a tasting of everything cooked that day.

Many people are fans of those PBS documentaries created by Ken Burns. Jacqueline Schwab, the woman responsible for their distinctive sound, is giving a concert on Sunday at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis.

Looking ahead to next week, more than 2,000 college students descend on Hyannis starting on Tuesday. It's all for the Region One portion of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival - but the result for the public, happily, is six plays which can be seen for a very small ticket price.

Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings and produces The Fishing News.
