Local Boatbuilders Show Off Their Craft, & More: Best Bets for the Weekend

Remember summer: bathing suits, fishing... and boating? If you fear warm weather might never come back, take yourself to Hyannis this weekend for the annual Boatbuilders Show. It's a great event, with an emphasis on local boatbuilders from Cape Cod and New England. Most of the builders themselves will on hand to talk about boats, boats, boats. And really, what nicer topic is there?

Well, there is art, too. Two receptions over the next week kick-off student art exhibits. The Truro Public Library is featuring their annual Children's Garden Art show. Falmouth High School students have a show featuring art inspired by the beaches and seals of the Outer Cape, opening at the Falmouth Museums on the Green Cultural Center.

It’s also a big week for improv in local theater circles, with unpredictable events happening in Cotuit and on Nantucket

For comfort food on cold nights, a lot of people turn to soup, and the West Yarmouth Congregational Church has a lot of different kinds to try on Saturday night.

Each week on All Things Considered, Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discuss upcoming events. This week's conversation is posted above - give it a listen.

Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings and produces The Fishing News.
