Gov. Deval Patrick to announce cabinet shake-up - Gov. Patrick is expected to announce that he will replace at least four long-time cabinet members as he heads into the final two years of his term.

Town of Aquinnah aims to stay free of casinos - The town of Aquinnah has joined the Wampanoag tribes of Mashpee and Gay Head (Aquinnah) in seeking to intervene in a lawsuit brought against the Commonwealth by a private casino developer who alleges the state law giving federally recognized tribes the first shot at a casino license is unfairly discriminatory.

Casino license in play for Mashpee tribe? - “The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is expected to vote Tuesday on a proposal to accept applications from commercial bidders for a Southeastern Massachusetts casino at the same time the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe continues to pursue an Indian gaming facility in Taunton.”

Attorneys unleash legal arguments in Brewster dog ban battle - A lawsuit challenging the Brewster Board of Health’s dog ban at Drummer Boy Park got its day in Barnstable Superior Court. Judge Christopher Muse did not specify when he will make his decision.

Study shows Cape Cod Bay in decline – A five-year study by Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies shows that near-shore water quality in Cape Cod Bay has been declining, probably due to human causes.

Rule change could harm endangered right whales – Shipping speed limits intended to reduce collisions with endangered right whales are set to expire next year. Experts are pressuring the government to renew the rules.

Treasure hunter Barry Clifford fights state on wreck – “Longtime treasure hunter Barry Clifford is seeking exclusive salvage rights for the Semiramis, a 120-foot schooner, which he says rests near a sandbar in Nantucket Sound.”

Passenger rail service coming – State officials announced Wednesday that, starting Memorial Day weekend, a new passenger rail service will run between Boston and Cape Cod on summer weekends with a round-trip price tag comparable to the bus.

Aviation Agency Offers Help On Airport Initiatives - The Federal Aviation Administration will approve a 30-acre photovoltaic panel field that will generate millions in income for the airport. It will also pay the airport money so it can purchase neighboring parcels that the FAA deems to be too close to airport land.
