Taylor Dayne, a familiar voice atop the Adult Contemporary charts, makes an appearance at the Beaux Arts Ball in Provincetown this Saturday, November 2nd. Sure, she'll sing a few numbers - exactly four, according to the press release: three dance hits and one ballad. She'll also be helping to judge the costumes.
Since she broke on the scene in 1987 with "Tell It to My Heart," Dayne has used her powerful voice to chart hits in every decade. She also has a Public Radio connection, making an appearance on the "This American Life" live-to-theaters simulcast last year. In the video from the show posted below, Dayne surprises comedian Tig Notaro. It's very funny.
Steve Junker and Matthias Bossi discuss Dayne's P-town appearance, and muse upon the nature of pop divas, in the segment from All Things Considered posted above. Give a listen.
