Troops in the Spotlight Returns for 10th Memorial Day Weekend

Cape Cod Cares for the Troops

No matter how many times you check the calendar to be sure it's right, the facts are the facts: yes, Memorial Day weekend is actually here! There are plenty of great events to enjoy.  In Hyannis, the 10th annual Troops in the Spotlight honors the men and women who serve in the armed forces with a 24-hour honor guard, collections for care packages, and more at the Kmart Plaza. Also this weekend, the Cape Cod Concert Band is celebrating the life and music of JohnPhilip Sousa with a very special concert that is sure to get your toes tapping. Wellfleet Preservation Hall is hosting its popular birdhouse auction on Saturday - but these aren't your typical birdhouses, more like works of art; some are even made with pieces of the old Preservation Hall from before the renovation. And WellfleetHarbor Actors Theater kicks off its 30th anniversary season this weekend with the world premiere of The Trials of Gertrude Moody, a play starring a character you wouldn't expect to see on stage - a very, very old parrot who is also a fashion designer (played by a human!).

Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discuss upcoming events every Thursday during All Things Considered.  Audio of this week's conversation is posted below.

Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings and produces The Fishing News.
