WCAI Celebrates Its 14th Birthday

Last Thursday night, WCAI staff, friends, and community members gathered at 3 Water Street in Woods Hole, the home of WCAI, to celebrate 14 years on the air. It was September 25, 2000 that the station went live on the airwaves. Over 150 supporters of WCAI huddled under a tent in the parking lot, laughing and smiling despite the rain. Nearly every person at the event was treated to a guided tour, which dedicated WCAI volunteers generously provided throughout the evening. Children happily ran up and down the hallways while Steve Junker delivered news updates and provided information in the not-so-soundroof studio during All Things Considered. The on-air hosts and reporters entertained with song and an impromptu performance on the stairwell as everyone swayed and enthusiastically provided the chorus. It was an amazing evening of celebration. WCAI will be holding an additional Open House on today, Monday, September 29th from 3-5 pm for those who could not attend the first night. We hope to see you on Monday!
