Weekend Outlook: Summer's Really Here

Merrily Cassidy / Cape Cod Times

Fourth of July is right around the corner and there's lots to do to celebrate. Here's your Weekend Outlook.

The actual July 4th holiday is in the middle of the week this year, but there are some events that kick off the holiday week this weekend: the Chatham Liberty Craft Festivalon Saturday and Sunday, a free holiday performance at the library lawn in Falmouth with College Light Opera Company on Sunday, and the Mashpee Community Picnic on Sunday.

There will also be opportunities to see fireworks on Sunday, at Rock Harbor Beach in Orleans, and from the Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville.

There are two other family-oriented festivals planned for Saturday, and one involves a play on the name of the town of Sandwich. It's SandwichFest.

Then in Brewster, it’s a big anniversary year for another kind of fair: Brewster's Whale of a Fair.

And if you’re in Yarmouth, you can do a kind of scavenger hunt for some giant works of art that symbolize summer by the beach. Yarmouth’s Sand Sculpture Trailwill be on display through October 8th.
