It’s Presidents Day, and on The Point we discuss Presidential Trivia with Van and Wendy Northcross.  Over the last 20 years, they've been visiting the libraries, birthplaces, and gravesites of United States Presidents, collecting memorabilia and many interesting facts. Mindy Todd and Steve Junker host.

Myers of the Provincetown Banner.  We also check in with WCAI's statehouse correspondent Mike Deehan for the latest news from Beacon Hill.

Nearly 300 million tons of plastic is produced each year, half of which is for items we use once, then toss, like straws, coffee cup lids, and plastic bags and bottles. Only a small percentage of the plastic produced is recycled or repurposed. What’s left is slowly degrading into smaller and smaller pieces that we’re finding in our soil, water and even the air. On The Point, we discuss ways to reduce our consumption of single use plastic in our homes and communities.  Steve Junker hosts.

We’re told to love and accept ourselves, yet we’re bombarded with images of perfect bodies on social media, TV, and in advertising, suggesting that success in life and love aligns with appearance, as though the world were not made up of many types of bodies. We talk with Randy Susan Meyers, author of Waisted, a fictional account of women who go to great lengths to lose weight.

On The Point's monthly Books program, we discuss memoir: part autobiography, part confessional, and still an enomously popular genre. Our guests in the studio are Kelly Porter of Woods Hole Library, and Mary Fran Buckley of Eight Cousins bookstore. Kathryn Eident hosts.

Anyone who lived through the Vietnam War era knows it was a fractious time in American history. The war grew increasingly unpopular over time and many Americans expressed disdain and hostility toward returning military personnel for their service in Vietnam. In addition, those returning from Vietnam were often coping with Post Traumatic Stress long before it was recognized as a behavioral health disorder requiring treatment. On The Point, we discuss how Vietnam Veterans have fared over the past 50 years.

One hour of lush string and vocal versions of Christmas favorites. Featuring holiday songs by Mantovani & his Orchestra, Hollyridge Strings, Percy Faith, Andy Williams and the Williams Brothers, Ray Conniff, Johnny Mathis, Hollywood Bowl Symphony and more. Merry Christmas!
