There are a lot of places to celebrate New Years Eve on the Cape and the Islands. Among the communitywide celebrations, the biggest, and the oldest, is Chatham's First Night, which features many activities and culminates in the lowering of the illuminated cod.

This is the first year for townwide New Year activities in Provincetown. These stretch over a few days and are called First Light, rather than First Night. More info.
On Martha's Vineyard there are plenty of choices for ringing in 2015, and Nantucket offers many family-friendly options.
And if you're not too tired from New Year's eve celebrating, come Friday morning there are many ways to mark the first day of 2016. The Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, and the Cape Symphonyall are offering New Years Day programs.
