Turtle stranding season has shaped up to be another record one-- more than 500 turtles have washed up along beaches from Barnstable to Provincetown since November, and the season has lasted longer than in previous years.
Combing the beaches for turtles can be cold, uncomfortable work—and it wouldn’t be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who make it happen. Despite these conditions, some 300 people signed up to walk miles of sand this year as part of efforts coordinated by the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
WCAI's Kathryn Eident went to the Outer Cape to learn more about what it's like to be a volunteer sea turtle rescuer.
