State House lawmakers passed a bill late last month that would add a tax to short-term rentals such as those listed on Air BnB. Cape lawmakers pushed for an amendment that would let their towns add a surcharge specifically designed to help pay for the region's looming wastewater pollution crisis.

The bill still needs to be reconciled with the State Senate's version, but supporters say it could generate millions of dollars for the region and put a dent in a cleanup effort that could cost billions.

Provincetown Representative Sarah Peake co-sponsored the amendment and talked with WCAI's Kathryn Eident about how it works.
