The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy in Chatham has brought someone new aboard — and she’s 18 feet long.
A life-size model of Curly, the largest white shark ever tagged in the northwest Atlantic, arrived at the shark center on Tuesday.
Education director Marianne Long said workers installed the model suspended from the ceiling.
"We often get the question, 'What’s the largest shark that has been tagged?'" she said. "And we tell the story of Curly. And so that’s why she came to be built and installed here: so we can better tell that story to visitors."
The conservation group commissioned the model from a Florida company that specializes in fish mounts.
The shark center will reopen to the public during Phase 3 of the state’s COVID-19 reopening plan.
