Is digital poetry a truly new form? And who's in control - people or computers?

These are the kinds of questions that Dr. Christopher Funkhouser ponders. Funkhouser is a practitioner of digital poetry in many forms - written, audible, and multi-media. He's also the author of two books on the history and future of the form:"Prehistoric Digital Poetry: An Archaeology of Forms, 1959-1995" and "New Directions in Digital Poetry."

He says he doesn't have answers yet, but his research is ongoing. Collaborating with artificial intelligence is a future goal. But Funkhouser also warns against "addiction" to social media and the digital world.

We wouldn't say we're addicted to social media, and we're certainly not poets, but we have posted some digital word art on our Facebook page.
