A small plane with seven people on board crashed Thursday afternoon while trying to land at the Provincetown Municipal Airport.
At least one passenger suffered burns when part of the twin-engine Cessna 402 burst into flames after the impact. The pilot and six passengers were transported to Cape Cod Hospital, according to a fire dispatcher.
There were no fatalities.
Provincetown Town Manager Alex Morse said it wasn’t a high-impact crash.
“I think due to the weather conditions upon landing, they ended up crashing beyond the runway,” he said.
Photos posted online by the Providence Canteen, which provides on-site support to first responders, showed the plane in the woods off Race Point Road, adjacent to the airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft “went off the end of the runway while attempting to land.”
The flight was Cape Air flight 2072, which took off from Boston Logan International Airport.
The crash is being investigated by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board. The NTSB said an investigator would arrive on the scene Friday.
