Nursing Homes Will Get COVID-19 Vaccine Starting Friday

The pharmacy chain CVS tells CAI it will begin giving COVID-19 vaccinations in long-term care facilities this Friday.

On the first day, CVS will administer vaccines in a handful of facilities in Connecticut and Ohio only.

Then, rollout to other states begins Monday, Dec. 21 — if the state has said it wants it.

A CVS spokeswoman declined to specify whether Massachusetts has given the OK.

The federal government has contracted with CVS and Walgreens to give the vaccine in long-term care settings with no out-of-pocket cost.

Facilities included in the contracts include skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, assisted living, residential care homes, and adult family homes.
