Late August, the striper and bluefish bite has dwindled, the bonito are a rumor, the funny fish have not yet arrived... what's an inshore angler to do?

How about this: enjoy an evening going for blue crabs.

Jimmy Fee, of On the Water magazine, (and a former New Jersey native, which gives him plenty of crabbing cred) makes the case for blue crabs being the tastiest of New England's shellfish. In this week's Fishing News (audio below), Fee explains how to crab through shallow estuaries at night with a flashlight. He's also got a tip for enticing crabs, when you're not having the luck you expected.

Also in the Fishing News, we round-up the weekly action, with special mention for very large (50 lb) striped bass in Cape Cod Bay, and those elusive bonito moving up Vineyard Sound. Give it a listen.
