Opioid overdoses and alcohol use in adults has been on the rise since the start of the pandemic. Are we seeing similar trends in teens? We discuss how the pandemic is impacting adolescent social and emotional well being, and other risk factors for teen substance use. Also, how parents, schools and communities can keep teens safe and get them the supports and services they need. With us are the following guests:
Theresa Manning, Executive Director of The Martha’s Vineyard Youth Task Force.
Melissa Maguire, Director of Student Services at Monomoy Regional School District.
Julie Kingston, LICSW at the middle and high school on Nantucket.

We also talk with Maureen Cavanagh about her journey through her daughter’s opioid addiction and recovery. She’s the founder of Magnolia New Beginnings, a nonprofit that provides peer support, education, and advocacy to those recovering from a substance use disorder. She’s also the author of “If You Love Me: A Mother's Journey through Her Daughter's Opioid Addiction
