Until the 1970’s people thought the deepest parts of the ocean were devoid of life- then hydrothermal vents were discovered on the sea floor. On The Point, we talk with WHOI senior geochemist Chris German about hydrothermal vents and life in extreme environments. What we’re learning about the deep sea will shape future space exploration.
