Earlier this month, illegal vehicle meetups known as “street takeovers” unfolded in several Massachusetts communities. State and local police are cracking down, and a Cape Cod legislator has filed a new bill he says is aimed at preventing them. But it’s not without critics.

In a push to investigate alleged perpetrators and help survivors of trafficking, the district attorney is allocating state grant money to organizations doing that work.

In remarks during back-to-back swearing-in ceremonies at Cape Cod Community College, they touched on themes of compassionate justice.
