2019 Cape Cod Baseball League All Stars Shine Bright in Orleans

The 2019 Cape Cod Baseball League All Star Game was one to remember. The game took place at Eldredge Park in Orleans. It's the oldest Cape Cod League ballpark, and one of the oldest continuously used ballparks in the country opening in 1913. Eldredge Park also has the deepest center-field in the Cape League at 434 feet. Some Major Leaguers who have called it their summer home include Frank Thomas, Carlton Fiskand and Nomar Garciaparra. 5,293 fans filled the grassy hill to watch the game Sunday despite temperatures reaching 92 degrees.

The classic East versus West game was one to remember. Early on, Harwich Harbor Hawk Joe Boyle of Notre Dame pitched the fastest recorded pitch at a Cape Cod League All Star Game at 100 mph. We also saw a rare inside the park home run curtesy of Gage Workman of the Brewster Whitecaps from Arizona State. Workman and teammate Brett Auerbach gave the East a 6-5 win against the West in walk off fashion.
