Additional disaster response teams are mobilizing as Hurricane Irma pummels its way closer to the mainland United States this weekend. It got us wondering how well the Cape is prepared for a catastrophic storm.

WCAI's Kathryn Eident talked with Kevin Morley of the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee to learn more about what it does, and how it manages a network of six shelters on the Cape and Nantucket.

Shelters on Cape Cod:
Falmouth High School
Sandwich High School
Barnstable Intermediate School, Hyannis
Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, South Yarmouth
Cape Cod Regional Vocational Technical High School, Harwich
Nauset Regional High School, Eastham
Nantucket High School
Satellite Shelters in Provincetown and Bourne as needed
