The adventures of Nancy Gardner Prince

We talk with Nantucket historian Frances Kartunen about her adaptation of Nancy Gardner Prince’s autobiography. Prince was a young black woman with roots on Nantucket who worked for emancipation and women’s rights and traveled globally.  Her autobiography, written in 1850, was preserved at the Nantucket Atheneum. Kartunen teamed up with illustrator John Walsh to produce the graphic narrative The Adventures of Nancy Gardner Prince, Written By Herself.
