Our region is awash with historical museums. In fact, almost every town on the Cape has one, and the islands do, too. While the Cape and Islands have a lot of shared history, geography, people, and events have created unique and distinct historical records in each place.
Today we hear from historical museums across the region. We’ll discuss collections and exhibits, and we’ll talk about how museums offer community engagement and provide context for what is happening in our region today.
Our guests for the hour are Mark Long, Executive Director of the Woods Hole Historical Museum, and Anna Barber, Director of Collections & Exhibitions, MV Museum.
We also hear from:
Sam Tager, curator at the Pilgrim Monument
Max Smith, director of the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center and the Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum
Liz Rabideau of the Chatham Historical Society/Atwood House Museum
Avery Hathaway, assistant curator of the Nye Museum
Mary Amanda McNeil, curator and collections manager of the Aquinnah Cultural Center
Julia Lund, Museum Manager, Wellfleet Historical Society and Museum
