Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe

The study’s preliminary results support the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe’s belief that Burying Hill is an ancient burial ground for their ancestors.

Gov. Maura Healey granted the designation Tuesday by executive order. The tribe is the fourth in Massachusetts to receive state recognition.
