New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park

Alex Houston's residency at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park and the government shutdown both began October 1.

The partial government shutdown that started just after midnight Wednesday means an estimated 750,000 federal workers will be furloughed and many federal offices closed.
