The president and CEO of HopeHealth has announced he’ll retire after seven years on the job. HopeHealth is a Hyannis-based provider of hospice, palliative care, and care for Alzheimer’s patients. The organization has seen remarkable growth in the last few years.
President and CEO David Rehm says when he was hired seven years ago, he promised the board of trustees that he’d stay for five years. Now that he’s expecting three grandchildren in the spring, he says it’s really time to go. He’s leaving an organization that’s very different from the one he stepped into in 2007.
Under his tenure, revenue jumped from 7 million to 28 million dollars a year while services have grown.
As one of his first decisions as president, Rehm threw the doors open to many more patients than ever before. Up until then, a person had to give up doing chemotherapy or other treatment before starting hospice care. Now hospice is available at HopeHealth for patients who continue receiving such treatments.
The trustees have already started looking for David Rehm’s replacement. He says he’ll step down as soon as they find that person.
