Remembering on School Street

Frannie Cahoon and Steve Plant sitting in the front garden. Summer 2014

Steve Plant is 61 years old and has lived an itinerant life, working odd jobs throughout the state. In 2009, he made an unexpected job change, to take care of elderly people with dementia. For the past four years, Steve has been spending several days a week with Frances. She’s 96 years old and lives in the house where she was born, on School Street in Woods Hole. Most afternoons, they sit out on the front lawn and talk.

This piece came to us from our production partners at Atlantic Public Media through their media training program, The Transom Story Workshop in Woods Hole. Justine Yan is a graduate of the workshop, and you can find out more about the program at Transom.org
