Stewardesses in the 1960’s and 70’s were far from in-flight hostesses. They were required to speak 2 languages, have a college degree and be poised, gracious and clever. We talk withJulia Cooke about her new book Come Fly The World-:The Jet-Age Story of the Women of Pan Am, and hear the stories of the women who flew at this time and how they paved the way for the feminist movement of the 1970’s.
