In December the New England Journal of Medicine reported that for the first time since the early 20th Century, home has become the most common place of death among Americans dying of natural causes, while deaths in nursing homes and hospitals are in decline. On The Point, we talk with hospice professionals and end of life care givers about the realities of dying at home, what hospice care does and doesn’t provide, and efforts to create a community home for the living and dying in Provincetown.

Guests: Dawn Walsh, End of Life Doula and co-founder of The Lily House, a community home for the living and dying in Provincetown.

Hannah Ewart, R.N. and certified hospice and palliative nurse, and a co-founder of The Lily House.

Ellen McCabe, Community Relations specialist for theVNA of Cape Cod Hospice and Homecare. She also worked for a number of years as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse.
