The Natural History of Cape Cod and the Islands

J. Junker
Aerial view of Madaket, Nantucket

The ecology of Southeastern Massachusetts is rich and diverse. What are some of the species and landscapes that make this region unique? How will these habitats and species weather climate change? And what does the term “Natural” mean, once when humans have had an impact on a place? We also hear from listeners about favorite places to explore the Cape and Island's natural beauty.

Our guests: Patrick J. Lynch, author of A Field Guide to Cape Cod, including Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island and Eastern Long Island; and Suzan Bellincampi, director of Mass Audubon’s Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, and author of The Nature of Martha’s Vineyard.
