Weekend Outlook: Political Humor, Veterans Events, & Gifts That Help Others

Merrily Cassidy / Cape Cod Times

Mix comedy and politics in Wellfleet, honor veterans around the Cape, and find gifts with more meaning. Here's your Weekend Outlook.

The mid-term elections have inspired a lot of reflections on politics, and starting Saturday night in Wellfleet at the Harbor Actors Theatre, that will include comedian and serious lieutenant governor candidate Jimmy Tingle.

On Friday night of this Veterans Day weekend, there’s an opportunity to eat and judge chili at a contest in Hyannis that helps veterans at the same time. It's the Red Hot Red Cross Chili Fest.

There are also several Veterans Day observances scheduled for Sunday’s holiday and on the weekend. They include: Dennis Field of Honor, Yarmouth Port Library Northside String Band on Saturday, & Battle lines with Greg Williams and Jaqueline Schwab.

For people who have started thinking about holiday gift-buying, there are two markets this weekend selling gifts that help people and communities at the same time. Check out the Unitarian Church in Barnstable, and the Falmouth Upper Cape Alternative Gift Market.
