White supremacist flyers have been discovered in a Falmouth man’s mailbox and along Yarmouth roads.
Adam Subhas of Falmouth told WCAI he had placed a Black Lives Matter sign outside his home and found it missing a few weeks ago.
In his mailbox, he discovered three flyers. One included a purported arrest record for George Floyd, and another depicted flags of the Nazis and Ku Klux Klan.
He reported the matter to Falmouth police, and a detective came to his home.
According to Subhas, the detective seemed to take the matter seriously but also told him that “city kids” from out-of-town could be the culprits.
“The focus on out-of-town people felt a little off to me, because I think what we really need is a recognition that these things are very much happening in our community and in our town,” he said.
Falmouth police did not respond to requests for comment.
Falmouth Town Manager Julian Suso confirmed the incident and said police are investigating.
In Yarmouth, Police Chief Frank Frederickson said Massachusetts State Police notified him on Saturday that someone had reported seeing flyers along local roadsides.
He said Yarmouth officers found about 20 copies of a flyer that said “white power” and asked white men to “join your local white nationalists.”
They were affixed to telephone poles and road signs in the area of Buck Island Road, Higgins Crowell Road, and Route 28.
Frederickson said two detectives are investigating, and the town may bring charges.
“I’m rather upset about it, more than upset,” he said. “It’s not the community we want to live in, and we are going to investigate it as far as we can go.”
Yarmouth police protect everyone, he said.
