More People Die From Suicide Than From Auto Accidents

JJ

Here on the Cape and Islands, suicide rates are one and a half times higher than the state average. And suicide deaths have surpassed deaths from motor vehicle crashes in recent years in the U.S.  In 2010 there were over 33,000 deaths from motor vehicle crashes and just over 38,000

suicides, according to a Centers for Disease Control report released in May.  Mindy Todd talks with psychologist Michael Abruzzeze and pyschiatrist Marc Whaley about why the numbers may be increasing, and suicide prevention strategies that make a difference.
