Author and journalist Dan McNichol talks about his mission to bring attention to America’s failing infrastructure. McNichol is on a national tour called Dire States, advocating for smarter, faster, and better building of roads and bridges. He’s driving the message on an 11,000-mile road trip around the USA – literally. McNichol’s research vehicle is a 1949 Hudson, an original Detroit lead sled that’s as old, rusty, and energy-defunct as America’s infrastructure. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) "Report Card" gives the nation’s infrastructure a grade of D+. McNicol is determined to find out why, and how to improve the situation.
