Looking Back on Martha's Vineyard's African American History and Culture

A look back at the African American Experience on Martha’s Vineyard.  Author Kevin Parham describes his childhood summers in Oak Bluffs during the 1960’s and 70’s. His new book is titled The Vineyard We Knew.  A historian from the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture also talks with Mindy Todd  about researching and collecting for an exhibit featuring Oak Bluffs.  We end the The Point hour with a discussion of some of the sites along the African American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard.

Mindy Todd is the host and producer of The Point on WCAI which examines critical issues for Cape Cod and the Islands. She brings more than 30 years of experience in radio and television to WCAI.
