Melinda Buckley wrote and stars in the play Mother (and me), She Ain’t Crazy, She’s My Mother… A Daughter’s Story of Love, Loss and Goulash, a tour-de-force one-woman show about her relationship with her immigrant mother and her mother’s dementia and dying, spanning many years. Buckley shows us how she herself ages throughout this process. A larger-than-life Hungarian, “Mama Rose” is slowly slipping into dementia as her Broadway baby, Melinda, slips into de’ middle age. It is a story of two women who are losing everything they’ve ever been – in very different ways – as they both lose each other. Who’s it harder for? The one who can’t remember? Or the one who can’t forget? Mindy Todd interviews the author on The Point. The Alzheimer’s Family Support Center of Cape Cod, in partnership with theCape Playhouse in Dennis, MA, is proud to announce a one-night-only performance of MOTHER (and me), written and performed by Melinda Buckley and directed by Kimberly Senior. The performance will be held on Sunday, August 2 at 4 pm. Proceeds will benefit the work of the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center which provides care counseling and other services to the 10,000 families on Cape Cod living with dementia-related illness.
