Recognizing and Treating Concussions

creative commons

Our understanding of concussions has come a long way in the last decade: of their long and short-term impacts, and treatment protocols. On The Point, we discuss why physical and mental rest is essential, why suffering one concussion puts us at greater risk for another, and new “return to play protocols” for adolescent athletes. Guests in the studio are Dr. Andrew Judelson, a physician certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and head of the Sports Concussion Clinic at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and Tom Gould, a Harwich firefighter and paramedic active in educating local EMTs, schools, coaches and parents about concussions. Here's a link to an informative websiteHits to the Head.
