Caregiver's Role Crucial for Alzheimer's Patients

artwork from the Alzheimers Artists and Writers project,

According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America it’s estimated that as many as 5.1 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease and the incidence of the disease is rising in line with the aging population. It’s also estimated that one to four family members act as caregivers for each individual with Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Family Support Center is designed to get caregivers the help and support they need. On The Point, we look at the role of caregivers play for those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and we discuss the Center’s participation in a longstanding study to better support Caregivers. Mindy Todd hosts Dr. Molly Perdue, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, and Clinical Director Vaughn Harding.
