Sharks and Sea Turtles

Wayne Davis

Researchers have learned a lot about white sharks, their behavior and life cycles, and they are working on the many questions that still remain about the species. Biologist and shark expert Greg Skomal, of the Massachusetts Department of Marine Fisheries, and also of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy joins us to discuss, and share findings on how the diversity and distribution of sharks has changed in our waters.

Next, we talk with Kara Dodge from the New England Aquarium Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life about advances in sea turtle tagging, and the start of cold stunned turtle season on Cape Beaches. Many turtles get too cold to migrate south around the Cape, and end up on our Cape Cod and Island beaches. We learn how sea turtles are faring in the wider world and the challenges they face.
