Can philanthropy be saved from the white savior mentality? On this episode of The Point, we’re talking about race and philanthropy with author Edgar Villanueva. His book is “Decolonizing Wealth: Indigenous Wisdom to Heal Divides and Restore Balance.” From inside the world of philanthropy, he reveals how grant-making aimed at empowerment has sometimes reinforced white supremacy, and how all people can connect and heal. Joining the conversation from the local community are Denise Porché, executive director of the Island Foundation in Marion, and Tara Vargas Wallace, founder of Amplify People of Color on Cape Cod. Jennette Barnes hosts.
