The Charles W. Morgan is towed through the Cape Cod Canal Wednesday morning on its way to Provincetown, the next stop on its 38th Voyage.
The Morgan is the world's last remaining whale ship. During an 80-year career, the historic vessel visited every ocean in the world and made 37 profitable whaling voyages. It has been a floating exhibit at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut since 1941, and recently underwent a 5-1/2 year restoration. This summer, the ship has been sailing to various ports around New England to commemorate its whaling heritage. After its Provincetown stopover, The Charles W. Morgan heads to Boston, then back to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the Centennial Celebration of the Cape Cod Canal. It returns to Mystic Seaport on August 9th.
