“Dear Garden Maker, as you plant and work your land, continue to ask this question: Who or what does this feed? Does it feed wildlife, including insects? Does it feed the soil? Does it put food on your table? Or does it feed your imagination, heart, and soul?”

C.L. says whether it’s fall planting or spring planting, gardeners should be aware that what we put in our landscape’s matters.

C.L. Fornari is the author of eight books, including Coffee for Roses and The Cocktail Hour Garden. She’s a professional speaker, the former host of GardenLine on WXTK, and co-host of the Plantrama podcast.
